Felony Warrant Arrest In Eastvale

Staff Reports

Eastvale- On December 29, 2011, about 12:10 PM, officers from the Eastvale Police Department were dispatched to look for a suspect who was possibly wanted for a felony warrant. The suspect was located walking in the area of Hamner and Schleisman in the city of Eastvale. Officers contacted the suspect, who was later identified as Jesus Valenzuela age 24, and confirmed him to be wanted for an outstanding felony warrant. While attempting to take Valenzuela into custody, he fought with the officers who were eventually able to take him into custody.

Per department policy, Valenzuela was taken for a medical clearance prior to being booked into jail. When the transporting officer arrived in the parking lot just outside the emergency room at the Riverside Community Hospital about 3:00 PM, Valenzuela fled from the officer on foot while still handcuffed. Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department at the Jurupa Valley Station and officers from the Riverside Police Department immediately responded to the area and established a perimeter.

Within minutes, Valenzuela was found hiding in nearby bushes by a Riverside Police Department K9 unit. He was located just a few hundred yards from where he had escaped. Valenzuela was taken into custody and was evaluated by hospital medical staff. He was later booked into jail for an outstanding felony warrant, resisting arrest, and for escaping custody.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station at 951-955-2600.
